Addressing the Challenges in Nigeria’s Recycling Sector

The Recyclers Association of Nigeria (RAN) is committed to protecting and strengthening Nigeria’s local recycling industry. In our latest position paper, we address critical challenges affecting the sector due to disruptions caused by foreign entities bypassing established local value chains.

• Foreign Disruptions undermining local businesses and causing job losses.
• Security and Traceability Risks from unregulated, informal activities.
• Loss of Economic Opportunities for local recyclers and processors.

Our Call to Action:

We urge the Ministry of Trade, Investment & Industry to:

1. Enforce regulations to protect local value chains.
2. Penalize non-compliance.
3. Support local recyclers with incentives.
4. Improve oversight and monitoring mechanisms.

By enforcing these measures, we can ensure that the recycling industry continues to drive job creation, economic growth, and sustainable development in Nigeria.
